We are thrilled to share the remarkable experience of our Sasa College of Industrial Design students during their visit to Modernform Group, Thailand's public company specializing in furniture product design and manufacturing, boasting over 40 years of expertise in crafting exceptionally innovative furniture solutions for offices, homes, and kitchens.
The privilege of hosting our 2023
cohort from the 8th to the 18th of October marked an enriching chapter in their
product design journey. The visit was tailored to provide in-depth professional
training in Product Design, covering essential aspects such as ideation, design
thinking, planning, production. They had the privilege of delving into various
innovative products within the realms of furniture, fittings, hardware,
showroom placement, and decoration. The itinerary also included insightful
visits to Modernform’s cutting-edge factories and showrooms.
Our students had the unique opportunity to explore Modernform's state-of-the-art factories and showrooms, gaining invaluable insights into the meticulous processes that contribute to the creation of exceptional furniture pieces. The learning extended beyond Modernform, encompassing visits to prominent areas and factories in Thailand. Highlights included visits to Samyan Mitrtown, Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC), MQDC – Magnolia Quality Development Corporation, Fraser Property Thailand, Stelapop Upcycling Factory, The Forestias, Pasaya, The Octospider building, and a special session on Interior Design with Studio54 designers, known for their work on the Parliament of Uganda and Centenary Bank.
Adding to the wealth of knowledge, a
special training session was conducted by the Co-founder of Shakes Bkk, a
product design company based in Bangkok, who shared key principles of product
design.
As SCiD, we express our gratitude to
Modernform Group, our esteemed partners, and all those who contributed to
making this educational journey a resounding success. Together, we look forward
to more enriching partnerships and experiences. This experience has
strengthened our commitment to pushing the boundaries of design education, and
we eagerly anticipate further collaborations that shape the future of
Industrial Design.
