Beyond the Classroom: Transforming Skills into Real-World Economic Power.

Dignified Jobs for Women in Construction (DJWIC)

Implemented by SASA College of Industrial Design the Dignified Jobs for Women in Construction (DJWIC) program is a transformative four month practical skilling initiative designed to equip young women, primarily young mothers and girls from less privileged backgrounds lacking access to higher education with high value technical skills.

Industrial Design Human Capital Development Program

This program looks to build Uganda’s Industrialization, implemented in two ways, one is through skilling local artisans who are already producing items to elevate their skills so they can now be able to produce products that can compete favourably on the international market.

Utilization Uganda’s Leather

To highlight the real world impact of SASA College’s training model, the Commercial Leather Utilization Project centers on Miriam Esther Muwanga, a graduate from the college’s pioneer class of the Advanced Certificate in Industrial Design. Demonstrating the caliber of talent developed at SASA, Muwanga designed an innovative leather bag that won two separate national competitions.

World Design Organisation-WDO Membership

The WDO is an international non-profit that promotes and advances the discipline of industrial design worldwide. As a direct benefit of this membership, WDO Regional Advisor Jorge Gomez Abrams recently visited SASA College. During his visit, he toured our classrooms, met with local maker communities, and engaged with grassroots innovators.
